Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Program

Our GATE program provides gifted and talented students within our schools with guidance and instruction to help meet their needs and encourage the development of creative and critical thinking skills.

Identification

Testing for the GATE program occurs annually in the Spring. The screening process for identification begins in the 4th grade. Students take the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) to measure their academic aptitude and reasoning abilities. This test covers verbal, non-verbal, and quantitative concepts.

Parents will be notified by the District if their child meets the criteria for GATE eligibility. Parents have the option to accept or decline the GATE program identification.
